Ultimate List of Travel Must Haves

Are you a fellow wanderlsuter? Wanting to see as much as possible while lugging the least? Are you ready for the ultimate list of travel must haves?

When packing for a trip, you want to make sure you have the essentials without going overboard. I am all for being prepared but the older I have gotten, the less I want to lug around a MASSIVE suitcase, or schlep stuff I am bound to dispose of at some point. Whether going by plane, train or automobile, I have put together a list of my faves and life savers.

Hawaii Dreaming

I’ve been Hawaii dreaming lately.  Like, a lot. Sadly I have never been, but it has always been on my travel bucket list. It’s been a dream to laze about on the Big Island and explore the other captivating islands on a leisurely escape. Ahead of booking flights and arranging luaus, one of the main decisions to make ahead of a trip is whether to indulge at a resort, or go for the convenience and homestyle feel of renting a (luxury) home away from (not so luxurious) home. Hawaii rental homes  can run the gamut from chic apartments to sprawling estates.

Sur La Table Excursion with Kitchen Aid at #IFBC

Another year, another IFBC (International Food Bloggers Conference) in the books. It was my second go at the conference and I couldn’t wait to get back to Seattle for the fun, flavors, food and flowing wine with friends. One of the most exciting items on the agenda for me this go ’round, was that I actually made it onto the roster for the Sur la Table excursion. Last year I ended up very (VERY) low on the LONG waiting list, so I was ecstatic when I was registered in time. The Sur la Table excursion with KitchenAid at #IFBC is everything a food blogger loves. Food, gadgets, fun. It’s a wonderful way to spend an afternoon in Seattle.

Rockin’ Raleigh- Internet Summit ’13 and My Week in Eats

I was just in Raleigh, NC  this past week for Internet Summit ’13 and what a week it was. I was happy to reconnect with some friends I made at MozCon in July, in addition to making new connections and learning from some really dynamic people. The conference didn’t disappoint.  Neither did Raleigh. It rocked.

I had never been to Raleigh before and didn’t know what to expect on the Foodie front, but I was beyond pleasantly surprised. In fact, I was pleasantly wowed. I headed into town a couple of days early so I’d have some time to explore and check out the local fare.

When I arrived on Saturday, we headed to Tobacco Road to watch FSU trample Wake Forest (Go Noles!). I had the chance to try a local to NC beer, Weeping Willow Wit, it was light and refreshing and it hit the spot after my afternoon flight.

I had a great time catching up with my friend Maria who lives locally. We chatted and made plans for dinner that evening. She is also a fabulous foodie, so I knew she’d pick a great place. She sure did!
